Zoom - Meeting fails to join due to outdated client
Overview
Some Medinbox systems experience an issue where users are unexpectedly returned to the Zoom home screen after entering a meeting ID. The root cause is an outdated Zoom client that fails to auto-update due to a Zoom-side bug.
Symptoms
• User enters a Zoom meeting ID.
• Zoom attempts to connect but immediately returns to the initial Zoom menu.
• No error message is displayed.
Root Cause
The installed Zoom client is outdated. Normally, Zoom prompts for an update when joining a meeting, but a known Zoom bug prevents this update from triggering automatically.
Temporary Workaround (Mandatory Update Procedure)
1. Log in to any Zoom account. This will force the Zoom client to initiate its update mechanism.
2. Your credentials will NOT be stored—Zoom will automatically log you out once the update begins.
3. Allow the Zoom update to complete fully. Do not close the application during the update process.
4. After the update finishes, the Zoom interface will display slight visual changes, confirming the update.
Expected Result
Once Zoom is updated, users should be able to join meetings normally without being kicked back to the home screen.
